Last day of school celebration with friends

This past week was the last day of school for both kids. We are excited for summer break and Andrea setup a time to hang out at the beach with a few of their friends.

Orthodontist appointment for Connor

At Connor's last dentist appointment, our friend Dr. Ross suggested that it was time for Connor to go to the Orthodontist. He had his appointment on Wednesday June 9th, 2021 and we were given a few options for his treatment. We opted to go with Invisalign clear retainers, so hopefully Connor will be responsible with them. They did a scan of his mouth and we will be getting his retainers some time later this summer.

Since Paige was along for the appointment, they also checked her out and gave an initial consultation for her treatment as well.

Spay Day for Millie Mae

Millie Mae got spayed on Monday, June 7th, 2021. She had enjoyed going on walks with me on Saturday and Sunday, so was excited to be riding with me again early on Monday morning. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as fun. The surgery was pretty quick and they also pulled one of her last baby teeth canines that hadn't fallen out yet.

On Monday after her surgery, Connor came with me to pick her up and Millie Mae was pretty mopey the rest of the day after we got her home.

The vet stitched Millie up with dissolvable sutures and fitted her in a little onesie that keeps her from licking and fiddling with her tummy. She actually looks pretty cute and skinny with the onesie, but she doesn't really like it and we've caught her pulling on it a few times.

By Tuesday morning, Millie Mae was back to her old self and ready to run and play. We've been trying to keep her from jumping and being too wild, but it's been pretty tough. So far everything has healed pretty nicely and hopefully in a few more days she can be finished with her little onesie.

Par 3 Golf Tournament on the Ocean Course PVIC

Connor and Paige participated in their first golf tournament at PVIC last Sunday June 6th 2021 on the Ocean Course. It was a Par 3 tournament so they teed off from fairly close, but it was still challenging. I went with Connor and Andrea went with Paige.

The course was beautiful and it was great weather near the ocean. It was our first time on the Ocean Course and it was fun to see all the houses and neighborhoods adjacent to the course. Connor really liked one of the modern houses and said he wanted to live in it some day, so I snapped a pic of him with it.

Paige played well and had a cute group of girls that she played with. Paige actually ended up scoring one stroke better than Connor, she's got a very consistent stroke and placed her shots on the green almost every time.

Millie Mae off leash at the beach

Over the weekend, I took Millie Mae to the beach with me for a long walk. She's always on a leash when she's outside, but it's legal to have your dog off-leash at the beach and I decided to see how she'd do. I was pretty nervous when I first let her run free, but I was thrilled with how well she did. Honestly, she was perfectly behaved off leash. She liked to stay within sight of me, but would run up and down the beach, looking back for me every few seconds to make sure she didn't get too far away. Whenever I called to her, she'd come running, and she never ran up to strangers or other dogs. She did get chased once by a big dumb dog that wasn't a good listener, but thankfully he just wanted to play and didn't hurt Millie although he scared her and chased her.

It was difficult letting her get so messy. She didn't really like to get very wet, but she did like the smell of some washed up seaweed and rolled around in it.

Triples with Connor

On Friday, June 4th 2021, our club had a triples tennis mixer and Andrea and I signed up. We like triples since it's usually pretty fast paced and a good workout. Shortly before we went to the club, Andrea thought to see if Connor could join us and thankfully they allowed it. It was fun to hit some tennis balls around with Connor and he was one of the stronger players, so it was nice to have some good competition.

Paige brought a couple friends along and they played a little tennis and made some Tik Tok videos.

Kids stay with Grandpa and Grandma during our Vail trip

Initially, we'd planned to bring the kids with us to Vail, but neither one of them seemed all that interested. Since they would have to miss some school, we reconsidered whether to bring them and asked Grandpa if he'd be willing to come over again and stay with the kids while we were away. Thankfully Grandpa agreed to come during the week and after school was finished on Friday he brought the kids to their place for the weekend. Connor ended up going and hanging out with his friend Robert for most of the weekend, so Paige got a lot of one-on-one time with Grandpa and Grandma. She worked on some painting, cooking, and went with Grandpa to his pickleball group and played pretty well apparently.
