Paige and Ansley Riding Bikes

Paige has been hanging out with Ansley quite a bit lately and I jogged with Paige and Millie Mae through the neighborhood last week so the girls could meet up. I snapped a pic of them together before Millie and I continued our run.

Family Pics at Cummer Museum

In the middle of last week on Tuesday, we went to the Cummer Museum after school and work to do our family pics. We've been to a lot of places around town for pics and hadn't considered the Cummer Museum until we saw our photographer Jen had been using it lately and had gotten some very pretty pics there. It was a little windy by the river, but hopefully we got a few pics of our family that will make it worth the effort.

After the pics we went to Blacksheep for dinner and then home.

Paige and Millie Mae at Cantina Laredo

Paige has been asking to go to Cantina Laredo for a while, so on Sunday we went for lunch and brought along Millie Mae. We enjoyed our guacamole, enchiladas, and quesadillas, and the girls shared the apple pie dessert. Millie wanted to taste everything, but we're still strict on the no "people food" policy, so she just entertained herself by watching the little birds flit about under the tables.

Paige and Millie Mae Beach Run

Paige went running on the beach with Millie and me recently. Millie loves to find things and carry them around on our walks. She found a pretty big stick on our walk and carried it for a little while.

Beach Rat Millie Mae

When we have time, Millie Mae and I still like to go to the beach, but we've been jogging and walking in our neighborhood more again now that the yellow flies have calmed down as the weather cools off. Millie loves the beach so much. When we first get to the beach and I let her off the leash, she sprints directly to the water and splashes around until her tummy and legs are nice and wet. She likes to chase off any birds that are hunting in the surf and will chase them through the waves until her feet can't touch any more and then will swim back. Millie loves to explore and find stuff on the beach including bread that people have tossed for the birds, or disgusting smelly dead things that she can push her face against and roll in. She likes to get sandy and ends up a complete mess by the time we get back to the car. I snapped a pic of her on the way home the other day, looking quite the scraggly puppy.

Connor and Millie Mae - 40 yard dash

Both kids love our "pupper dawg", and are more comfortable and enjoy her as she's grown up. Connor likes to chase Millie Mae around and he loves to get her riled up. Last Sunday we were goofing off with her in the afternoon when the girls were out doing their nails and I took a couple pics and videos of Connor and Millie Mae. He eventually got it in his head that it would be fun to time her doing a 40 yard dash so we could compare her speed to the NFL players. We used my laser range finder to mark off the distance and then challenged her to run it. We timed it at about 6 seconds, which is sadly not fast enough for the NFL. I think she could have gone quite a bit faster if she'd been chased or challenged, so there's still hope she can make the cut.

Hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa and the dogs

Last weekend on Saturday I decided to head over to Grandma and Grandpa's house to hang out with them for the day. Andrea and I had considered going out of town and Grandpa had been planning to stay with the kids, so they hadn't made any plans other than some dog sitting. Andrea and I decided to cancel the travel plans so we didn't have much going on over the weekend and I thought it would be fun to go over to Grandma and Grandpa's with the kids and Millie to hang out. The kids hadn't really been around them for a while other than a beach visit over the summer, and they had friends with them at the time so didn't spend a lot of time around the Grandparents. Millie also hadn't been around other dogs much so it was a good time to socialize her a little with Possum, Pepe, and two dogs that Grandma was dogsitting: Knugget and Riley.

The weather was warm, but cooler than it's been most of the summer. We introduced Millie slowly to all the dogs after we arrived and then went inside after we got a little hot and after the dogs calmed down. We watched Raya and then took the dogs on a walk.

Once it got a little late we went to Tijuana Flats together for dinner and then headed home. Fun day with family!
