Tuesday of TPC was free for kids and Paige and her friends skipped school to attend. None of them cared a bit about the golf, but they were happy to have an excuse to dress up, take pictures, and see Ludacris perform.
Paige's adventure began with them trying to find a way in to the event. All of their parents had to work, but they got a ride to the parking area nearby. As they were walking in to the golf course they spotted a couple in their early 20's and Payton asked them if the girls could be their kids. Of course they agreed and Paige and friends were in!
The weekend after Connor's birthday, Paige had a tennis tournament in Tallahassee, so it was a perfect opportunity to visit him and spend a couple of days together. Paige rode with her team to the match, and Andrea and I drove separately and met Connor for a late lunch. Unfortunately McAlister's Deli was closed due to a water issue, so we drove across town to the restaurant where Connor's working instead. He was a little hesitant at first about bringing us there, but we tried hard not to embarrass him and it was neat to meet his manager and to see where he's been working.
Paige's school played a match on Friday afternoon against one team and then another one on Friday morning. At the match on Friday, Connor's high school tennis teammate Christian also showed up to cheer on their old team.
Paige played well on Friday and won a singles matchup fairly quickly. After the teams finished playing, they all went to dinner together and Connor and Christian were invited to join them.
Saturday's match was against Leon high school, and Paige played another singles match. She was certainly a stronger player, however she was a bit sluggish and it was not her best showing. Thankfully she still won the match.
After the teams finished playing, Connor and Christian went out on the court with the boys' team to participate in a team cheer. It was a first try at the cheer and shows why most boys do not take up cheerleading. The girls did their cheer shortly after and it was possibly ten times louder and more energetic.
We ate a quick lunch at McAlister's Deli while our cars charged up across the street, and then we gave Connor some hugs and kisses before driving home.
Paige was assigned to drive us home for practice on the highway, but in the interest of saving our lives, I took over after about 45 minutes as Paige was falling asleep.
Connor and some of his fraternity brothers participated in a dance competition this past week. They rehearsed it quite a bit and put a good amount of time in to their performance. They placed in the top three and we are impressed that Connor was confident enough to get out there and show his moves.
The process of home building is proceeding, but ever so slowly. There are still some administrative hurdles which need to be completed before the lot can be cleared, and the new restroom is still not open.
We asked that the builder stake off the home's footprint on the lot, and we went out with them and with our pool designer to get a feel for where everything would be.
Connor's birthday this year was a big one as he turns 19. It's his last year as a teenager and it was the first birthday that we spent apart from him as he's away at college. His birthday fell on a Monday, so we couldn't spend it with him, but we made sure to call him to wish him a happy birthday. Andrea arranged for a lady to decorate his dorm door with a happy birthday sign and with balloons, hopefully to make his day a little extra special.
Paige played in a UTR tournament at Planet Swim this Saturday. She was matched up against three opponents that all had higher ratings than her. She played the best I've seen from her, did a great job of being consistent and picking her moments to attack.
Paige ended up winning all three of her matches and she's actually won her last 13 matches between tournaments and high school tennis.
Millie Mae got her haircut this last week and she looked extra cleaned up and cute. Paige was getting ready for bed and Millie was so relaxed with her that she was falling asleep. We snapped a couple pics of the girls chilling together since they were so adorable.
