The magic words

Andrea's been working with Connor so that he'll say please and thank you, but Connor's been watching the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and he's gotten a little confused.

He wanted Andrea to put on Mickey Mouse on the TV and she said that he needed to say the magic word. Connor said "Mishka Mooshka" which are the magic words that Mickey says to make the clubhouse appear.

Funny boy!!

Thanksgiving with the Anders

The day after Thanksgiving we went to celebrate with the Anders family. Connor was awesome in the car ride again thanks to Mickey Mouse. He ate more turkey at the Anders feast and again loved it dipped in ketchup.

Grandma and Grandpa Anders dishing up their turkey dinner.

Connor and Drew were rough housing and Connor got his sleeve stuck in Drew's braces. The shirt had to be cut free!

More rough housing with the "big guys".

It was an incredibly beautiful day out and we all went outside after dinner to take some pictures together.

All the dogs: Chewie, Sophie, and Chloe.

After we digested our food for a while we went out to the tree farm so Grandpa and Grandma Anders and the Gobles could pick out a tree.

After Grandpa Garry and Uncle Ryan cut down the trees they chose, we loaded them up on the tractor to take them back to the truck. That was definitely Connor's favorite part. He says "tractor" pretty well, but it sounds more like "dack-a-doo".

Thanksgiving with the Vernons

We went to St. Louis for Thanksgiving and feasted on Grandma Alice's Asian inspired turkey dinner. It was really a pretty traditional Thanksgiving dinner except for the seafood that Aunt Wendy and Jenny eat instead of turkey.

Connor enjoyed the visit and did great in the car ride thanks to Mickey Mouse DVD's. At Grandpa and Grandma Vernon's house he liked to watch the birds eat, loved the cuckoo clock and actually did a pretty good job eating Thanksgiving dinner. Last year he wouldn't touch anything, but this year he ate a lot of the turkey. He dipped it in ketchup and we told him it was chicken nuggets. Yum!

Connor and Chloe

Chloe is so good with Connor. She is very patient with him and has always been very gentle with him. We were very worried at first about how she would act around him when he was born, but she's proven to be a very good dog with children.

Connor sometimes likes to "feed" her, which usually consists of him digging in her dog bowl and feeding her each piece of dog food one at a time. We're surprised she puts up with him so well and we're happy that they get along. They don't play a whole lot, but they are very good together.

Grandma Anders and Grandpa Anders visit

Daddy had his last day of school for the year yesterday and Grandma and Grandpa Anders came by to hang out with Connor and Andrea. They all went to the Olive Garden where Connor ate a bunch of spaghetti and meatballs and then Connor "made fish" (played with play-doh) and played cars for a while.

No nap yesterday for Mr. Connor. He hasn't been taking good naps lately and was a little bratty in the evening.

Daddy turns 30

Shawn turned thirty this past week!

It was a very difficult birthday for Daddy. He felt super old and was mopey and dopey all week. Andrea was super patient and a great wife though and helped him through his traumatic week of turning officially old.

Monday, Andrea and Genie put together Shawn's birthday dinner. Andrea made her mom's famous homemade noodles for the first time along with a chicken in the crock pot, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. Tuesday, Shawn took the day off of work and went shooting. Wednesday was the terrible day of turning thirty, and we went to eat at Jason's Deli, and Andrea got a Dairy Queen ice cream cake for dessert. Friday, the Vernons came in town and on Saturday we met up with the Anders and Vernons for dinner at Granite City brewery for dinner.

Shawn had entirely too much to drink, and then was surprised when Andrea brought out the surprise gift! Andrea got Shawn his dream watch! It was the best birthday gift ever! Thanks Andrea!

After dinner we went back to our house and ate cake and played games until we were exhausted.

Thanks everyone for all the gifts and for coming together for Shawn's birthday! It was a memorable one!

Chatterbox

Connor really loves talking on the phone lately. He's been pretending all kinds of things are phones and he loves when we call a real person for him. We typically put the phone on speakerphone mode and we enjoy listening to him hold a conversation.

First purchase for the new baby

We purchased our first thing for the new baby recently. When Connor was little we bought him a jogging stroller and we've really used it. We really wanted to get a nice double stroller and decided to go with the same brand we'd gotten for the single stroller.

We took a picture tonight before we went on a walk.

Can't wait to take it for a spin!

Final checkup and Xrays

Connor had his final check up with the Ortho clinic this past week. They took 2 more Xrays, and his leg is continuing to heal well. Without the cast over his leg, these Xrays look much clearer and you can really see the big ball of bone around the area that broke.

The doctor looked at Connor's legs and Connor's left leg is slightly shorter, which is to be expected. The doctor said that things should even out and heal cleanly eventually.

Halloween 2009

Connor had a great time with Halloween this year. Andrea enjoys dressing him up while he doesn't really have a say in it and this year he went as a zebra. He has a weird fixation with zebras and he's got a little zebra toy that he likes us to chase him around with. We have always made a "Shh Shh" noise with it when we chase him, and he is convinced that's the noise a zebra makes.

Connor went trick or treating with his cousins in Odessa and although he was terrified of Uncle Nate in the "Big Bad Wolf" costume (and every other costume), he did have lots of fun. He was hesitant going up to houses, but he loved getting candy and said "Tick or Dee" when prompted.

Sophie loved Connor's costume as well and loved to chase him around and would grab his tail. She was funny about it and would shake it and hold on like crazy.

Thanks Aunt Abby for the Halloween presents!! He's been playing with Sarge (Cars movie toy) all day today.

We tried to get a group shot of the kids, but Connor was terrified of Drew when Drew was wearing his helmet. We never did get a good picture of them together.
