Tennis clinics and lessons

Paige and Connor have been working on their tennis lately during the school year with some clinics and lessons. They typically each have a clinic during the week as well as a private lesson with Andrew at PVIC on Wednesdays. Paige had been doing the Oak Bridge clinic, but recently we took her back to the neighborhood clinic since they switch staff and have been using green dot balls. There are some of her classmates in the clinic too, which make it fun. Connor does a Monday night clinic and then on Saturdays he has a private lesson in the mornings while Andrea and I do the morning clinics together.

Mingle After the Jingle

Our tennis club had their annual post-holiday celebration, and Andrea and I attended together. It was nice to chat with the tennis pros outside of the courts and they all looked fancy dressed up in their formal attire. The big surprise of the night is that Andrea and I both won the "Most Improved Player 2017" awards. Andrea had actually been told ahead of time by Mike that I was getting it, to make sure we attended, but she was surprised that she won as well. It was neat to receive the awesome trophies and very special that we won together. We love our tennis club and the community, it was a fun night!

Paige's PJ Party at PVIC

PVIC had a PJ party for the kids and Paige decided she wanted to go in her new unicorn onsie. They played lots of games and she got to play and hang out with her favorite counselors.

Flag Football Touchdown

Connor had his second flag football game of the season with his team "Sacksonville". Unfortunately, they just barely came up short again and lost by one score just like their first game. In their first game, he won on a running play on the first play of the game. I didn't get it on video, so in his second game I was sure to video all the plays and thankfully did get a video of his touchdown. He actually caught the ball right on the sideline by me and it was pretty exciting.

Racoon Onsie for Connor

Connor loved Paige's Unicorn Onsie and Andrea has been looking for one for him at some local stores. She couldn't find one that would work for him locally, so she looked on Amazon with him and found a few cute options. He's worn it through the weekend and it's been super cold, so a perfect time to have a onsie.

Unicorn Onesie

Paige really wanted a Unicorn Onesie for Christmas and Andrea somehow found one for her at Target. We'd given the idea to a few people for Christmas, but when Paige didn't get one, Andrea gave her the bonus present. Paige has worn it every chance she can get and loves it.

Playoff football - Chiefs and Jaguars

This past weekend was exciting for NFL football and we were rooting for the Chiefs and Jags. On Saturday the Chiefs had a big lead against the Titans, but managed to blow it. On Sunday, we watched the Jaguars defense and were so happy that they won their first playoff game in forever. Connor wore his Jags jersey during the game and then the next day to school. He was cute getting out his Jaguars stuffed animal and Beanie Ballz guy.

Connor also had his first flag football game of the season. They played an evenly matched team and unfortunately came up just a little short in the end. Connor had an amazing full field run for a TD and a few other good plays as well. I thought it was neat that for the last play of the game the coach called a play to get the ball in Connor's hands. Connor did a great job running it, but unfortunately the entire team was deep and waiting for him.

Alex and Laura's New Year's visit to Florida

Just before New Year's, Alex and Laura came to Florida to visit. They got in to Orlando on December 30th and rented a red Mustang convertible so they could enjoy the warm Florida weather. Unfortunately, they brought with them an arctic chill and it was the coldest it's been in Jacksonville in years. We got back from KC on the 30th, and on the 31st we met them for lunch at Barbara Jean's and then we went to our house.

Andrea and I took Alex and Laura for a ride on the golf cart, and Alex drove us to the North Island and then down to the Harbor area of the neighborhood. We were planning to ride around on the golf course too, but it was a bit cold out and the battery light started to blink. We were worried we'd have to end up pushing the cart home, but thankfully we cut the tour a little short and made it back in time. I think since we'd unplugged it while we were out of town, and because it was so cold out, the battery wasn't doing as well as normal.

After our ride, we exchanged some Christmas gifts played some games together.

On January 1st, we spent the first day of 2018 with everyone at Grandma and Grandpa's house. We played some more games, watched some college football and had some of Grandma's spaghetti for dinner. So happy that Alex and Laura came to visit! The kids really loved to see them again and enjoyed teaming up with them playing some games.
