Pool fun with the kids

The pool has been open for a few weeks now and it's by far Connor's favorite thing to do. When Mommy tells him it's time to go to the pool he'll run through the house rounding everyone up and hurrying us along. He'll bring us our shoes and will get dressed and is very sweet. When it's time to leave the pool it's another story. We've had some talks with him about being good when it's time to leave the pool but it's hard to leave!

Paige went to the pool and just chilled out in the shade. She wore the cute bonnet that Grammy Genie bought for her. Connor never would have been so relaxed when he was that age, Paige is definitely a more laid back baby.

Connor liked to jump in to the deep end. He's very independent with his life jacket on, but we're planning to get him some swimming lessons as soon as possible.

Smiley baby

Paige is getting big!

She's definitely putting on some weight and is eating well. She is sleeping pretty well at night, definitely doesn't have her days and nights mixed up. On occasion she will sleep five to six hours in a night, but not consistently. She is a very happy baby and has been very talkative lately.

She still has blue eyes and long eyelashes. Andrea said that when her eyes are all the way open her eyelashes almost touch her eyebrows! We'll have to try and get some pictures of her pretty eyes soon.

Connor's outfit

Paige was a handful this morning, so Daddy asked Connor to be a little self sufficient. When Connor said he had to pee pee, Daddy told him to go ahead and go on his own. He's been pretty good at it lately and often goes by himself. Daddy was pleased when Connor came back and reported "I made pee pee!". Daddy was less pleased when Connor followed it up with "Pee pee on the floor."

Daddy set about cleaning up the pee pee that got on the floor and told Connor to go get dressed. Connor picked out his own outfit from head to toe. Blue and orange hat went nicely with the orange shirt. Not quite so well with the gray shorts, and nothing really matched the bright baby blue Mickey socks. Nice work though Connor!

Morgan moves

Connor's good buddy in the neighborhood Morgan is moving. She officially leaves this next Monday and we're sad to see her go. Connor has played so much with her as he's grown up and is so comfortable with her. He's awfully tentative around most kids, but he loves to play with her and isn't shy around her at all.

We'll miss the Millers! Good luck in Colorado!

Baby Paige is getting big!

Paige is starting to fill out. She was such a tiny thing for so long but is starting to get a little chunk on her and is filling out quite a bit lately.

She's been interacting with us quite a bit lately. She started smiling and cooing around June 8th 2010 and has been making a lot of eye contact and likes to try and talk to us.

She lost almost all the hair on her head, and it's slowly coming back.

She has been doing really well overall. She is typically quiet and calm unless there's something bothering her like gas or a dirty diaper. She's been sleeping pretty well at night recently and doesn't seem to have her days and nights mixed up. She usually has her last meal around 9pm to 10pm and then sleeps for 3-4 hour stretches through the night. She still wakes up a few times a night, but at least she's sleeping between feedings.

The only thing Paige really hates is poopy. She works so hard on it. Sometimes it doesn't seem to bother her much, but sometimes she turns bright red in the face and pushes so hard we think she's going to burst. She really works hard! No pictures or video of poopy, I'm sure she'd hate that info on the internet.

Snuggling with Mommy.

Connor's been amazing with her. He hasn't shown any jealousy or competitiveness with her. Sometimes he wants to be held a little more than he used to, but not very often. He is very thoughtful of her and helps when we change her diapers. He will spontaneously show her affection too, giving her kisses. He's a great big brother.

Grandpa and Grandma Vernon visit

Grandpa and Grandma Vernon brought Connor back from St. Louis last weekend and stayed the night to visit with us and baby Paige. It was a pretty busy weekend and a hard drive that contains one copy of all our pictures failed so Daddy got behind and didn't update the blog completely. Working to get a new hard drive in place, so just now catching up.

We really enjoyed our visit with Grandpa and Grandma and the weather was pretty nice so we played outside a bit. We played with the baseball machine, in the sprinklers and of course Connor's jeep. Connor played play-doh with Grandma inside as well. Grandpa likes to not look at the camera when I'm taking pictures of him for some reason, I guess he thinks he looks better in profile.

The baseball game. Connor didn't want help.

Sprinklers!

Thanks again for having Connor over to visit Grandpa and Grandma Vernon! We love you!

Grant's Farm

On Friday Connor and Grandma went to Grant's farm. They got to feed goats, see all kinds of animals and play with some too. Connor really liked the goat area. He wasn't too shy around the animals and ran around with them until it started raining. Lots of fun!

Monkey Joe's

On Thursday Connor and Grandma went to Monkey Joe's. It's a playground that has a lot of the inflatable playsets. We'd been to one in Kansas City called "Fun Run" a while back, but Connor was too timid back then and didn't have any fun. It looks like with some encouragement from Grandma he had a pretty good time at Monkey Joe's. Grandma reported that he was a good boy and did a good job taking turns and didn't push the other kids when they were waiting to go on the equipment. It sounds like they had a great time.

Connor and Grandma at the City Museum

On Wednesday Connor and Grandma went to the City Museum. Tuesday was a little wet and rainy so they just went to the library and spent most of the day at home. Mommy and Daddy were wondering how it could be a good idea to take a three year old to a museum, but apparently this wasn't a boring old museum that we'd imagined. There were all kinds of cool sculptures and things to climb on and fun stuff to do.

Connor and Grandma at the Zoo

On Monday Connor and Grandma went to the St. Louis zoo. He liked getting up and close with the Monkeys and watched the zookeepers feed the penguins. Grandma and Connor shared a hotdog and some ice cream for lunch.

Connor at Grandma and Grandpa Vernon's house

Connor spent the last week with Grandpa and Grandma Vernon in St. Louis. He had a very busy week and did all kinds of neat stuff. Grandma dug out lots of Daddy's old toys and Connor really enjoyed playing with all of the cars and guys.

We missed our little man all week, and normally he doesn't like to talk on the phone so we were worried we wouldn't be able to talk to him. We set up our computers to do video conferencing (using google chat) and were pretty impressed that the technology worked pretty seamlessly. We were able to see and talk to Connor and since he was able to see us he actually enjoyed talking to us too. It worked so well he'd even kiss the computer screen good night each night as we finished our conversations.

Grandma had a really fun week planned and pretty much every day they had a different activity set up.

At home, they loved to play cars. Not much is more fun than cars crashing!

Connor told us all about all the animals at Grandma's house.

He showed off some of the awesome moves he learned at gymnastics.
