Puzzles with Paige

Paige has been enjoying puzzles lately, so we went out with her on Saturday and did some shopping. We decided to get a more complex puzzle with 200 pieces. On Sunday morning she sat down and worked on it for a couple hours straight and finished it. I helped a little, but she did most of it herself. We will have to get some more puzzles for her!

Tesla Test Drive

On Saturday night we decided to try the Tesla Model X out to see if we liked it. We liked it quite a bit more than we expected and the kids loved it. We probably won't be getting one in the near future, but we had fun trying it out and the kids loved the "Ludicrous Mode" acceleration.

Donuts with Dad

On Friday morning, I went to Paige's school for the PTO's Donuts with Dads event. We ate some Dunkin' Donuts, had some OJ, and listened to a local sports nutritionist speak. It was a popular event and we got to see some of Paige's friends and saw quite a few dads that we knew as well.

Grandpa and Grandma Vernon's house

On Sunday we decided to stop by Grandma and Grandpa's house to say hi. We watched a little football and goofed off with them. Connor's getting taller, almost as tall as Grandma! Paige played piano for us and pretended to be a well trained puppy dog. Good times!

Marsh Landing Grand Prix Tennis tournament

Connor played in a tennis tournament in our neighborhood yesterday. He played three matches and got some practice playing under pressure. The tournament was setup with no-ad scoring and the first player to 6 games won the match. Connor won his first match 6-0, Lost his second match 1-6, and Won his third match 6-1.

Wave the Whale project and newspaper project

Paige came home from school on Friday with a special bag filled with goodies and some assignments. In the bag was a stuffed whale named Wave and a blank newspaper. Paige's mission for the weekend was to take Wave on some adventures and document the experience in a binder. We took some pictures of Paige with Wave and then printed and cut them out and taped them to some special blue pages in the binder.

We also had to fill out a large newspaper with a lot of information about Paige. We printed out a picture of Paige as well as a picture of Paige and Connor together. She chose Connor as her hero and wrote a little bit about him. I took a short video of Paige practicing her newspaper presentation, she's a little nervous about it, but I'm sure she's going to do awesome.

Playing school with Paige

Andrea loved playing school as a little girl, so when Paige wanted to play school Andrea was all about it. She got lots of fun school supplies for Paige and even a little cart to keep it all together and organized. At story time lately we will play school and I will instruct the class while Paige competes with her stuffed animals to get good grades and pass tests. She had a book report presentation recently and I took a few pics and a video as she presented.

20th Anniversary of meeting celebration - Four Seasons Orlando

Today is the 20th anniversary of the day Andrea and I met at college. To celebrate, we went to Orlando and relaxed at the Four Seasons resort. We ate dinner out at "Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'" in Disney Springs on Saturday night and enjoyed the amenities and the comfortable hotel. It was nice timing too since the US Open was on TV so we had some nice entertainment in the evenings.

I posted the following to Facebook, so I thought I'd include it here as well.

Twenty years ago today, Thursday September 3rd 1998, I was in my second week of college at SMSU and I met someone that changed my life forever. My roommate had a classmate from high school named Andrea Anders, and she met up with us to go to Jordan's Creek to go dancing. I didn't pay a lot of attention to her at first since we were in a big group, but after I caught her pinching my butt on the dancefloor, she had my full and undivided attention. We've been inseparable ever since and I'm forever thankful of the random series of events, dorm room assignments, and fate that brought us together that night. We've grown up together, graduated college, started a family, traveled the world, and have had so many adventures the past twenty years. We celebrate our wedding anniversary on June 18th, but September 3rd was the anniversary that we celebrated first and always will hold a special place in my heart.

Andrea, you are my best friend and my soulmate. With you in my life I'm never lonely, always loved, and forever grateful that we've stuck together through everything. I hope our next twenty years together are as fun, blessed, and happy as our first. You are my true love!

JCP Orlando Sectionals

The weekend of August 19th, Andrea went to Orlando to cheer on her JCP friends in their quest to become national champions at the 3.5 level. They ended up getting defeated in the sectionals, however Andrea had a good time cheering everyone on and watching some good tennis.
