Paige, our new soccer star

This morning we struggled, but managed to drag our tired booties out of bed to take Paige to soccer. We were pretty exhausted from getting home at 2am from the Mickey Halloween party. When we arrived at soccer, I asked Paige if she would take a pic for me and she ended up throwing a huge fit and missed the first few minutes of practice before she finally settled down.

Grandpa Garry and Grandma Genie were excited to see Paige play for the first time and the Gobles came too to watch. They spent the first 30 minutes on dribbling drills and then the last 30 minutes the scrimmaged.

We were really surprised at how well Paige did today. I think she finally stopped getting distracted by her surroundings and got down to business. She was smart about knowing which way to go, blocked the other team from scoring multiple times, and she ended up scoring two goals! I took some pics during the first goal, but got the second one on video. I think it's pretty impressive because she gets the ball on her end of the field, heads towards the correct goal (not just the closest one), controls the ball down the field, turns it towards the goal, and shoots it in.

Yay Paige!

Graydon had fun watching, but was super interested in the park. Paige played with him a little while she was waiting her turn to play.

After practice, I got some pics of Paige doing a few shooting drills.

Score!

Paige really wanted to play at the park nearby and since she did such a great job at soccer we let her goof off for a bit afterwards.

After soccer we went to Barbara Jeans for some lunch.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

On Friday we drove to Orlando to do the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. We were pretty nervous that it was going to turn out to be an awful day. There were huge rainstorms all over Florida and most of the drive down was in the pouring rain. We ate at Uno's when we got in to Orlando and while we ate we watched a huge rainstorm through the windows. We were prepared to get soaked.

We snapped a pic together in Uno's before we left to go to Disney and we figured it'd be our last dry pictures together!

When we arrived at the park, it was a bit wet, but just light sprinkles of rain. We snapped a few pics as we came in to the park.

While we waited for the Gobles to arrive, we rode the Buzz Lightyear ride and the People Mover.

After we met up with the Gobles we rode the Dumbo ride and the Barnstormer.

We did a little trick-or-treating and Andrea got the kids some cute bags that lit up with LED lights.

After the rides, we watched the Halloween parade and then got some snacks before heading out.

Just as we were leaving the park, the sky finally let loose and dumped a ton of rain in a few minutes. We got a little wet (Genie got a lot wet) and eventually got on the monorail and back to the car. We drove back to the house and got home about 2am. It turned out to be a great night and we are so glad we decided to go. It rained almost the entire drive down and the entire drive home. It was raining all around Orlando, but somehow while we were there it didn't rain in the park. It was a fun night!

Grandpa Garry and Grandma Genie visit

This past Tuesday, Grandma Genie and Grandpa Garry flew in to town late in the day. They stayed at Amanda and Ryan's place when they arrived and on Wednesday, when Connor got out of school they took him to do some special stuff together. They ate at Taco Bell with him, took him to shop for some toys, and had a fun day out together. The weather finally cooled down, and that night we went out front and played with the kids. They got out most of their wheeled toys and played for a while.

That evening Paige helped Grandma make some brownies. Paige was a good helper and was very happy to snack on the batter throughout the process.

On Thursday, the kids went to school and in the afternoon Grandpa and Grandma picked Paige up from school and took her out for some special time together. They went to Kohls and shopped for a couple hours, playing with all the toys and letting Paige take her sweet time. Paige got a Princess Rapunzel nightgown and a Frozen themed karaoke machine. Paige loved to sing along to some of the pre-loaded Frozen songs and was even more excited when we figured out that we could plug it in to her iPad so she could sing along to Taylor Swift.

Magic Kingdom date night

This Saturday, Andrea and I went to Orlando together to have a date night at the Magic Kingdom. Mrs. Jessie watched the kids, so we were able to get away and do all the adult attractions at the park that we normally have to skip since we have the kids with us. Andrea and I haven't been to the Magic Kingdom without kids since we became parents, so it was a fun opportunity to get away and spend some time together at the park. We drove down after Connor's soccer game and ate at Uno's for lunch.

Unfortunately, we ended up at the park a little earlier than we really intended. We'd planned to stay late, so the lines wouldn't be long, but ended up there in the early afternoon. The park was pretty crowded and we got stuck in some pretty long lines.

We had a fun time riding Thunder Mountain twice, Space Mountain, the Haunted House, and Splash Mountain.

By the end of the night, the new Snow White rollercoaster "only" had a 60 minute wait (it'd been 70 minutes most of the day). I managed to talk Andrea in to waiting with me and we got our chance to ride the new ride. It was nice, very cute and well put together, but not worth a 60 minute wait.

We didn't end up staying very late, but we got to ride all the things we'd planned to and had a great time together.

Connor's second game with the new team

Connor had his second game with the Bridge team this past Saturday morning. It was raining pretty hard when we got in the car and I really didn't think we were going to have the game, but made the drive across town and showed up for it. The rain was just sprinkling and the fields weren't closed so we got out and the kids got warmed up in the rain. It rained lightly throughout the first half of the game and eventually stopped.

Unfortunately, Connor's team lost this week. They didn't score any goals and the other team was pretty darn good. The other team scored at least 10 goals, but I stopped keeping track after a while. Connor played really hard and gave it everything he had. He ended up getting hit twice in the face by the soccer ball, but he didn't let it phase him. Unfortunately on one of his best chances to score, he got hurt. He was making a break towards the goal and got past everyone on the other team except for one defensive player and the goalie. He got the ball past the defensive player, but the defensive player stepped right in to Connor and ran in to Connor's thigh really hard. Connor got knocked in to the air and landed hard on his arm and head. They stopped the game and Connor cried a little but was able to walk off. He sat out for quite a bit after that, but came back in and did his best.

I could tell he was quite disappointed with the game, but I told him I was very proud of the way he played he hung in there with the older and bigger kids and did his best. That's all we can ask for!

I took a pic of him all wet and dirty after the game. He still had grass and dirt all over his face, but he was smiling!
