Paige's sleepy time reading

Paige likes to fall asleep in different beds recently. I carry her up to her bed before I go to bed. This past week we came in and saw she'd fallen asleep while reading a book. She's been getting pretty good with her reading and she's cute about reading at night.

Tennis Mingle after the Jingle

On Saturday, Andrea and I went to the club's tennis party where the tennis members mingled, ate some snacks, sipped on some drinks, and some of the members were given awards. Andrea has been taking lessons with Andrew recently, so we made sure to snap a picture of them.

Afterwards, we went to 3 Palm Grill with some of our tennis friends and had dinner.

Paige's 100 day hat

Paige had a class project where she had to decorate a hat for the 100th day of school. The assignment requirement was to put 100 of something on a hat. We looked around the house, but didn't have a hat that would work, so we decided to make one. Paige counted out 100 stickers and we decorated it after we got it all taped together. It turned out pretty nicely I think and she's excited to wear it to school.

I hope it holds up!

Playing School with Paige

Paige and Connor both have adjusted well to their new school, and Andrea and I were just talking the other day about it and realized that neither one of them have ever said they don't like school or don't want to go to school. Paige actually likes it so much that during story time at night, we play "school".

We act out an entire day, and Paige pretends her name is "little Lucy". First, I pretend to be her daddy and I wake her up in her bed, then pretend to make her breakfast and get her ready for school. Next, she goes to the other side of the room to the "bus stop" and I pretend to be the grumpy bus driver who drives her to school. I like to crash the bus, but Paige doesn't like that one bit. Once we get to school, I'm her teacher and we do some reading, assignments, eat lunch, go to recess, and finally she goes "home" to the other side of the room. Finally, I'm daddy again and I review her school work, feed her dinner, then tuck her in to bed. I guess it must mean that she has a pretty good life since it's pretty much her exact daily routine that we play act.

Paige showed Mommy her "schoolwork" and Andrea thought it was cute so we took a video of Paige reading it and explaining it before she went to bed.

Connor's football playoff excitement

This year, Connor got in to his football a bit earlier than he has in the past. He followed all the teams, players, and especially the Chiefs. We only got to see them play once in the regular season since we don't have any NFL packages with our TV, but Connor has been a big fan. He got his Chiefs jersey from Grandma Genie for Christmas and wears it every chance he gets. The Chiefs had a bye week for the first week of the playoffs, and we watched all the games and were excited to see the Chiefs play at home against the Steelers. Connor was nervous about the matchup since they'd lost to them earlier in the year. Sadly, the Chiefs didn't do well against the Steelers in the playoffs. The Steelers couldn't get a touchdown, but they got 6 field goals and the Chiefs couldn't get the two point conversion at the end of the game to tie it up. Connor was absolutely heartbroken and it was disappointing to see him so let down. He could barely watch the game at certain points because he was so nervous, and when they couldn't convert the two point conversion he was devastated.

Connor's still been wearing his jersey and is still watching football, but he's definitely not as interested as he was when the Chiefs still had their shot.

Christmas celebration with Grandpa Rick and Grandma Alice

Today, Grandma and Grandpa Vernon came up to watch Connor's basketball game and then they came by the house and watched some NFL playoff football with us. We hadn't seen them since before Christmas, so they brought by Christmas gifts for us too! I took some pics of Paige and Connor opening their presents.

Paige got a Barbie collection and a Disney Descendants doll.

Connor got a double set of Magic Tracks. The kids have both enjoyed setting up tracks and sending the cars around and around. We turned off the lights for a bit and watched them run in the dark too.

Andrea on B1 team with Ellen vs Marsh Landing

Andrea played with her teammate Ellen this past Wednesday vs Marsh Landing. The kids were still out of school, and since the match was so close I rode with the kids up to the tennis courts to take some pics and videos of Andrea playing.

Andrea and Ellen won, and it was the first time I got to see her playing in a regular country club match. I'd seen a little bit of her playing in some tournaments in the past, but typically Andrea's pretty nervous going in to her matches and doesn't like me to be there since it can be distracting for her.
