8 weeks old and much more fun!

We had our 8 week checkup on Friday and everything looks good. Connor is growing away and is almost 10 pounds now. He's 23 1/4 inches long which is in the 60% range, and in weight and head size he's in the 25% range. He's well on track. He was a pretty little baby when he was born, but he's always been pretty long. Hopefully he doesn't end up with a big gigantic head like his daddy. Mine has trouble fitting through doors and my neck can barely hold it up. If I try and lie down with my head on any part of Andrea she starts screaming because it will crush anything I put it on.

He's been even more talkative now, and this morning we got a video of it. Unfortunately we didn't notice that his burp rag is on the floor in the video and some of my clothes are piled on my hamper. I had just gotten done feeding him and hadn't cleaned up at all when he decided to start talking to me. The mess drove Andrea nuts because the entire house is actually clean except for the little bit that showed up in the video. Connor's pretty cute though, so we uploaded it anyways.

Please excuse the mess!

Connor's first visit to Odessa

This last weekend Connor went on his longest road trip so far. I could tell he was in the mood for some barbecue, and everyone knows Grandpa Garry can cook a mean bratwurst so we decided to have a visit.

First we stopped off at Buddy and Renie's house so they could inspect the baby.

Looks like he's got all his toes...

Maybe his eyes are a wee bit squinty...

Thankfully, they approved so we got to keep the little monster!

Next we headed over to the Anders house where we ate some BBQ and played some kickball.

He just had to get a picture with Pa Pa Garry and Grammy Genie.

We forced him to take a picture with his cousin Allison and he looks pretty angry about it in the picture. He may well have gotten some cooties on him. We gave him a bath though, so hopefully he'll be alright.

7 Weeks old

Connor is starting to get a little more interesting to be around. A couple times a day, he'll be in a talkative mood. He'll coo at you if you talk to him, and if you're lucky he'll even flash you an occasional smile.

He's still more fussy than we imagined a baby would be, but at least he sleeps during the night. Throughout the day, unless you're holding him and entertaining him somehow he'll get irate, but at night he'll usually sleep for a few hours at a time.

Andrea was gone today to her cousin Jessica's wedding shower so Connor got to hang out with his Daddy. Since Mommy wasn't around to tell us no, we decided to play in the grass. No blanket or anything, we just plopped right down in it.

I think Connor liked it.

Chloe liked hanging out with us too.

Tough poop... (It's amazing how interesting it is to talk about poop after you have a child)

Since I'm typing this, Connor will probably cry all night long, but I would like to say that I think he's getting more used to his bodily functions. In weeks past, he would freak out when he had to burp and would wail and shriek shortly before a big poop. Andrea said that when he's like this he's a totally different baby. She lovingly refers to him as her "little monster". Actually, if you look in his Easter basket (previous post) you'll see a shirt we bought for him that says: "Mommy's little monster". It definitely fits him sometimes.

The last few days he's seemed to be coping with things a little better. He still dirties more diapers than I could have thought possible, but at least he is dealing with it more introspectively.

Earlier today he was chilling out on the boppy and I was trying to get a smile out of him. He still hasn't had one yet, but he is definitely locking on more routinely with his eyes. Since he wasn't interesting in smiling or talking, I thought I would take some pictures. Seconds before his diaper exploded, he started looking very thoughtful. I managed to get the picture below a moment before he erupted.

Eww....

Connor's Easter basket

Today is Connor's first Easter!

We hid a few dozen eggs around the house, but I don't think Connor found any. I think we'll leave them hidden for a while until they spoil, he figures it out, or until Chloe eats them all. (No, we didn't actually hide any)

Andrea put together an Easter basket full of goodies. I wanted to buy Connor the Nerf N-Strike weapon system, but Andrea wouldn't let me because it wouldn't fit in the basket. Maybe next year...

Nerf N-Strike Longshot:

Connor is 5 weeks old.

We were going to do a post that Connor was a month old, but we have been busy and didn't get to it. So this is his 1 month (actually 5 week) post.

He's been doing very well, and we've been easing into our roles. Andrea stays up at night during the week and I stay up on the weekends. Connor stays up every night. He usually doesn't cry unless there's something wrong, but every once in a while he'll go through a period where he's inconsolable. That's pretty rough when baby is crying and you don't know why and there's nothing you can do about it. Other than those periods, he's on a pretty regular routine of eating every 3 hours and pooping a few hundred times a day.

Here's a picture of Connor chilling out in his boppy:

Here's a family photo we took yesterday:

Chloe's been good with baby. She gets up every night with Mommy when baby is crying. Her favorite thing to do with Connor is help when he's taking a bath. She stands on the toilet seat and gets in the way constantly.
