Connor visits Grandma Genie

Andrea's not allowed to leave more than an hour outside our zipcode once she's 34 weeks pregnant, which she will be tomorrow, so we decided this would be a good weekend to have one last getaway before baby came. Chloe went to stay with her cousin Sophie at Aunt Amanda and Uncle Ryan's, and Connor went to stay a couple nights with Grandma Genie and Grandpa Garry. Thanks to all for taking care of the kids so we could enjoy our last weekend away for a long time.

Grandma Genie had prepared all kinds of fun stuff for Connor. She'd dug out a kitchen set that her girls played with when they were little and Connor was excited to have someone new to play kitchen with. He had a great visit with her and with his cousin Drew. They went to see some baby chicks at Feldman's, watched some movies, colored some Easter Eggs, played all kinds of games and took a bath. He missed his Mommy and Daddy, but he had a really fun visit this weekend.

When Mommy and Daddy came to pick him up, the Easter Bunny hid some of the eggs and candy and Connor competed with Drew and Allison to find the most eggs. He wasn't much competition yet, but he loves to search for stuff.

Right when we took this picture he was saying "This one is too big!"

Thanks for the all the Easter goodies and for the great visit Grandma Genie!

Speech Therapy

Connor recently started getting his speech therapy. He goes twice per week for 30 minutes each. He's a little behind for some sounds due to his undiagnosed hearing issues. Since getting his tubes in his ears he's progressed very rapidly and we don't expect that he'll really need the speech therapy for too long but we figured it could only help.

Connor's kitchen

Grandpa and Grandma Anders got Connor a kitchen set for his birthday and Mommy and Daddy got him some "Melissa and Doug" velcro cutting food. The Rudolphs brought over a table and chair set that they're no longer using. He's got a really cute little setup and he's had a lot of fun preparing meals and feeding everyone.

Gymnastics class again

Connor's gone to gymnastics class three times now. Overall he really seems to like it, but whenever we initially get there he gets very shy and apprehensive. He usually gets angry at us when we take off his shoes and then takes a long time to warm up. Typically once the class is about halfway done he starts to enjoy himself. He does a great job listening to the coach and while he doesn't get everything she's asking him to do he tries very hard. He's definitely improving!

Connor grudgingly cooperating at the beginning of the class.

The other kids like him and want to make friends.

But girls have cooties. YUCK.

At the end of class they get CANDY! Connor loves picking out something sweet.

Connor's Mickey Mouse Party

This weekend we had Connor's third birthday party! Mommy and Connor have been talking about it all week, and Connor was calling it his "Birthday Cake Party". I don't think he knows exactly what a party is, but he definitely knows about birthday cake.

Mommy has been planning his Mickey Mouse themed party for a couple months now. Connor loves watching the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and we just went to Disney World, so it was the perfect theme for his party. Andrea got some decorations while we were at Disney world and she also got him a special 3rd birthday T-Shirt with Mickey on it.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Anders, Rudolphs, and Gobles for celebrating with us and for the great gifts and food.

Before everyone arrived, Connor posed with some of the Mickey decorations.

Amanda and Allison posed with the Mickey and Minnie downstairs.

Some pictures of the goodies.

At the end of every Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show Mickey and friends sing the "Hot Dog Song", so we had hotdogs and bratwursts for lunch along with some other good food that family brought.

After eating, Connor posed (very briefly) with his presents.

He got momentarily sidetracked with some rough housing.

Then he got down to business! Connor got all kinds of great gifts from everyone.

After playing with some of his new loot and with everyone outside for a little while, we went in and ate the goodies. Connor loved when everyone sang happy birthday to him and he tried to blow out his candle. If you've ever seen him blow on hot food, you'd know he doesn't blow very hard, so Allison had to help him blow it out.

Yummy!!

Gymnastics class

Connor started gymnastics this last week. Andrea thought he would like it since Connor's always jumping off things and loves to roll around and fall down. He's going once per week. As usual, when he shows up somewhere new with new people he was very reluctant to participate on the first activity, the trampoline. He warmed up about half way through the class and enjoyed the obstacle course. His favorite part of the class was the balance beam.

When it was time to go, he threw a fit. That's so often the story with Connor recently. At first he throws a fit because he doesn't want to do something, then he loves it and throws a fit when it's time to stop. We're glad he likes the class and Daddy's looking forward to the next one because it will be in the evening and he will be able to come too.

Connor acting shy at first.

Connor's 3 year checkup

Connor had his three year checkup this past week. He's perfectly average for his age at this point. Mommy and Daddy must be doing something right.

Stats:
Height 37 1/4 inches 50th percentile
Weight: 31 pounds 50th percentile

Connor's finally moved from whole milk to 2%. The doctor usually recommends 2% starting at 2, but since Connor was still pretty little last year she recommended keeping him on whole milk another year. He's slowly starting to be less picky with his eating and has a bigger appetite. Overall he's developing well!

We were thinking of all the changes he's gone through in three years and thought we'd post some pictures for comparison.

Connor turns three!!!

Connor is three today!!

This weekend we're having his third birthday party. He'll be wearing his birthday shirt we got while we were at Disney World and his party is going to be a Mickey Mouse theme! Mommy's been working hard to get everything we can find that's Mickey related. He's looking forwards to his big party and we can't wait to party with him!

Happy Birthday big boy! Hard to believe he's already three!

How old??? Three!!
