Memorial Day with Family

Following Connor's Graduation party, we had a fun family weekend together with everyone that came in town to visit. The Rudolphs and Gobles had short term rentals in Dolphin Cove nearby, and the Vernons stayed with Grandpa Rick and Grandma Alice. On Sunday morning we met for pickleball at our neighborhood's new courts and had some competitive games while the little ones played at the park. The weather was pretty darn hot though and it was definitely better swimming weather, so we cooled off in the pool afterwards.

In the evening, Shawn put together a ping pong tournament. We had ten participants, so we used ChatGPT to organize a doubles tournament with different partners each round. We played short games to ten, and it was surprisingly fun and competitive. Alex and Nate won the most rounds with seven each so they had to face off in a one on one singles match. Alex had a couple of championship points, but somehow Nathan battled back and came out the victor.

On Monday morning, Grandpa Rick brought his sons to his Pickleball group early in the morning. We played for a couple of hours and got to play quite a bit even though it was a larger group than normal.

Connor and Paige drove to Grandma and Grandpa's house and we played with the kids and with Millie Mae for a few hours before heading out. The Vernon families departed for home that afternoon, so we said farewell and they made it home without any issues.

In the afternoon and evening, we swam with the KC family and Paige went to a friend's birthday party.

We had a large group of "Happy Salmon" players and had some loud shrieking competitions. Somehow Andrea and her sisters are the best at the game and they won many times, although the boys did win occasionally.

It was a memorable Memorial Day and we packed in so much fun in the few days we had together. We are thankful for our family taking the time and energy to come so far to be together this holiday and we will always remember our fun weekend.
