Fascination - Carnival Cruise out of Jacksonville

One perk of living in Florida is that the cruises are so convenient. We finally got around to sailing this past weekend. We left out of the port in Jacksonville on the Carnival Fascination on a four night cruise to Freeport and Nassau Bahamas. The proximity to the port was awesome. We're used to having to wake up early, drive to the airport, go through security, fly on the plane, get our luggage, get a taxi or shuttle to the bus, and then drive to the boat. On Thursday morning, we left our house and within 30 minutes we were at the boat. Doesn't get much more convenient.

The cruise wasn't very long, but it was a nice amount of time for the two of us to spend some time together and relax.

Our first stop was in Nassau and we decided to do an "all inclusive" resort as our excursion. We had never done anything like that and had been considering doing an all inclusive resort some time as a vacation, so we were interested to see if we liked it. Unfortunately, it wasn't what we expected and we didn't really enjoy it. We were expecting to be pampered like rock stars and have drinks and food delivered to us on the beach. Instead, it was a buffet for food and a shack out by the beach that served drinks. We had a couple mediocre drinks and a basket of chicken nuggets. We weren't too impressed. A few of the other people that went along got absolutely hammered and really thought they got their money's worth out of it. We would not do it again.

Our next stop was in Freeport and we were excited to do a Segway tour. We've both always wanted to give one a try.

Andrea and I both caught on really quickly to how they work and we were off and running pretty quick. The tour took us down some sidewalks near the beach and then we ended up in a little park.

The park was the best part. There were two tour guides with us. The lady let Andrea use her Segway and the guy let me use his. Their Segways didn't have governors on them, so they were much faster. They let us play for about 15 minutes just driving around and goofing off.

The rest of the cruise was just the typical days at sea and on the boat. We relaxed, played by the pool, read some magazines and books, and enjoyed ourselves.

Of course, we both enjoyed the good food. We don't really care too much for a lot of the fancy and exotic stuff, but there are some things we always enjoy on the boats.

We always enjoy the "Combo" sandwhich - Pastrami and Corned beef with Swiss cheese.

Andrea loves the chocolate melting cake. Got to have 2 scoops of ice cream to have enough for the whole cake!

I'm not a big breakfast eater, but I do like the baked apples. Also, got to stay hydrated! I like to get water, grapefruit juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, skim milk and chocolate milk.

Of course I also do love the ice cream cones! Delicious! Nom nom nom!

Monday morning we got back to Jacksonville. We left our stateroom at 8:15 and we got to our front door by 9:00! Can't beat that!

We had a great time! Can't wait until the next one!
